Open Source Digital Asset Management system that enables services for access, provision, stewardship and re-use of digital assets with a focus on educational and research materials.

Greenstone is a complete digital library creation, management, and distribution package for Unix, Windows, and Mac OS X. Users create collections by gathering a set of input documents, specifying a configuration file, and running the build script. It provides full-text and fielded searching, browsable indexes, customised formatting, metadata extraction (acronyms, languages, etc), a Z39.50 client, and many other features. It supports many input formats, the interface is configurable and multi-lingual, and collections can be distributed on the Web or on CD-ROM.

Islandora is an open source framework developed by the University of Prince Edward Island's Robertson Library. Islandora uniquely combines the Drupal and Fedora open software applications to create a robust digital asset management system that can be fitted to meet the short and long term collaborative requirements of digital data stewardship. Additional open source applications are added to this core stack to create what we call Solution Packs or Sprouts. Islandora operates under a GNU license.
